UO Outlands - Train Cartography and sell the maps

Hey Youtube I'm Jaseowns and today I'm going to show you to how to train cartography on UO Outlands while selling the maps you make! On UO Outlands cartopgrahpy helps you decipher Research Materials, Resource Maps and Treasure Maps. You can use this skill on an alt as it is not required to be part of any treaure hunting build. # Training You'll want to already have around a 10k stock pile of blank maps, but to get started training, head over to Horseshoe Bay. Near the bank we're looking for a NPC called map maker. Today his name is Brad. Train to 500 skill if you haven't already and pick up 50 or so map maker pens. We can use an organizer agent to move the pens into a bag, and we'll move that bag into our bank. We'll also want to store our blank maps in the bank. # Agents Now that we have the supplies, we'll want to add counters for both blank maps and completed maps and setup both a restock and sell agent. Since we have a blank map, we can use that to setup our agents. Go to restock 5 and select add target, choose the blank map. Go to Sell agent, click add Target, choose the blank map. Now don't forget to make sure Sell agent is Enabled. # Counters Head over to Display/Counters, click Add. Here will add blank maps first, click Target and target your blank map stack. That should fill in item id 5356 and color 2955. Now enter name and format as "blankmap" Next we want to add used maps, we can do that now by using a hue as the color. Enter name and format "usedmap", item id 5356 and color 2669. Make sure you select the checkbox next to the newly created counters for them to work properly. # Creating the script You can follow along by creating a new script, or taking the Train_Cartography_Sell_Maps script from Github. Link will be in the description and pinned comment. We've covered the requirments of this script so let's review what we are doing. We first check to make sure we haven't hit max skill. Next we try and make sure we are near a vendor. If we have usedmaps in our backpack, sell them to Brad! We could have sold them by saying `vendor sell` but I prefer to stay silent and sell by interacting with the menu cntext. For that, we use menu serial of brad and response 2. Menus are 0 indexed based, so 0 is paper doll, 1 is buy, 2 is sell. If our blank map count is less than 10, restock ourselves using the bank. Escape if we don't have anymore pens or maps. Now we craft the map based on our skill check. I've covered how to interact with gumps in depth in my black smithing video so be sure to check that out if you're curious but as a refresher, the first category starts at 100, the second 200 and third 300. So for selecting Maps, we gumpresponse 100 and then 201 202 or 203 based on our current skill. Once I'm out of maps, the script will repeat - attempt to sell, restock and craft again. # Outro And there you have it, a training script for cartography that won't litter the streets with your used maps!
